The Center for Nonprofit Excellence is a nonprofit resource center; a collaboration of the United Way of Central New Mexico’s Corporate Cornerstone companies and the Albuquerque Community Foundation.  We build the capacity of nonprofits to effectively serve their clients therefore maximizing the use of donor dollars. Our focus is on staff and volunteer leadership and strengthening core infrastructure areas:

  • Board Governance
  • Financial Management
  • Resource Development
  • Information Technology

Trainings We offer in person, peer supported, and on line learning opportunities that strengthen local nonprofits.

Online toolkits Can’t attend a training?  Access the information in a toolkit.  Current toolkits: Accounting Glossary, Accounting for Grants, Audit, Conflicts of Interest, IRS Form 990, Lobbying, Selecting Accounting Software, 403b Regulations.

Family Advocacy Center

Part of Advocating in your community is creating long-term change. Your United Way helped create this change in partnership with the City of Albuquerque and fourteen onsite agency partners by opening the Albuquerque Family Advocacy Center. The Center is a safe, secure and caring environment that focuses on the needs of victims of interpersonal crime.  The center is committed to providing victims of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault and their families with a safe setting to assist in addressing and overcoming the trauma of their experience and break the cycle of violence that destroys families.

2-1-1

United Way 2-1-1 is an advocate for those in need in our community - providing free information and referral to health and human services, government agencies, and community based organizations.
