Where the Money Goes

In 2007 – all income for UWCNM totaled $23,150,000. The chart below shows where that money is being spent.

Administration costs are paid entirely by Corporate Cornerstone Companies. Because of their generosity, 100% of individual gifts go where the donor wants those dollars to go. Nothing is deducted.

Pledge Loss is made up of pledges which, for various reasons, are not paid in full by the donor. Most often it is because the donor left the company or moved away from the community. United Way cannot pay pledges out which have not been received. Our United Way has one of the lowest pledge loss rates in the country.

Individual Designations are donations made by donors where they select a specific organization(s) whom they want to receive their money.

United Way forwards a donor's gift, 100% of it, to the charity of their choice as a service to the donor.  For the most recent list of donor designations, see our Audit.

Community Fund donations are the combined gifts of thousands of donors. All nonprofit organizations serving the most vulnerable people in Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance and Valencia Counties are eligible to apply for grants from this fund. Three hundred volunteers review and visit the organizations and decide which programs should be funded and at what levels. This quality assurance process, which assesses program quality and fiscal accountability, is unique to United Way. To see which agencies and programs are currently receiving funding, click here.
