The Center for Nonprofit Excellence is a resource center designed to build the capacity of nonprofits. Programs and services are provided through trainings and workshops, consultation and web resources. Partnerships and collaborations with both the business and nonprofit communities enable us to provide a comprehensive array of services in the following areas:
The Center was started in October of 2005 and has since provided services to more than 1,000 participants. Services are available to all nonprofits throughout the state of New Mexico, but focused in the central New Mexico region with an emphasis on the counties of Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance and Valencia. Web services are designed with an emphasis on statewide needs and funds are available to help develop and enhance capacity building services around the state.
The Center is sponsored by the United Way of Central New Mexico's Corporate Cornerstones program and the Albuquerque Community Foundation. Corporate Cornerstone members are companies who choose to direct their corporate gifts to pay UWCNM’s administrative expenses. Since 2002, Corporate Cornerstone companies have contributed more than the total administrative budget required each year and these additional funds are used to establish systemic improvement programs, such as the Center. Contributors want maximum value and quality service for their donation of time and money. Improving the capacity of all nonprofit organizations in central New Mexico is an important step in addressing these concerns. Additional support is provided from the Daniels Fund for statewide web resources.
