United Way is how a community helps itself. United Way of Central New Mexico is one of 1,400 United Ways across America. But in each of those communities, as at our United Way, the organization is run by the people who live and work in that community. We are not a local chapter of a national organization.

We are a local organization, raising and distributing resources from the people of this community to the people of this community. Literally, thousands of people in central New Mexico are the volunteers who make UWCNM work.  United Way of Central New Mexico is governed by a local Board of Directors made up of community leaders who commit their time and resources to make this United Way an example for the whole nation. It is their leadership that has made this a donor driven, customer service United Way. It is a policy making and decision making Board.

We are proud of our United Way. As a result of the outstanding efforts of the donors, volunteers and staff, United Way of Central New Mexico increased its fundraising results by 21% in 2004 and another 18% in 2005. Not only did we raise more in donations, but we are forming collaborations and partnerships to spend your money smarter by working with other funding groups and service providers to create better solutions to our community’s human problems. We are actively inviting everyone in the community to give what they can to build a better community to come home to. None of us can do everything but each of us can do something.

Get involved. Connect yourself to what matters most to you, through United Way of Central New Mexico. Give of your time. Give financially. Giving is a learned behavior. It is something that helps both giver and the receiver. It is what connects us as a community. Please give. Thank you.
