Expand Your Impact
United Way of Central New Mexico’s Community Fund helps ensure that all individuals and families in central New Mexico:
- Achieve their potential through education
- Are healthy and safe
- Are financially stable
- Live life with dignity
Community Fund Grants
The Community Fund improves the lives of the most vulnerable by providing program grants to excellent nonprofit programs in Bernalillo, Sandoval, Torrance and Valencia counties through an annual, competitive application. These grants are made in alignment with our strategy maps, which use research and community input to determine ideal community conditions and the strategies used to achieve them.
Community Fund grants are currently supporting 95 projects and programs, totaling $3.6 million (requests for 2016-17 totaled more than $12.5 million). Our Annual Program Grants support education, health, financial stability and basic needs programs, and in 2016 UWCNM launched four new, multi-year funding opportunities called Community Impact Project Grants in the following areas:
- Behavioral health: prevention, early intervention and education
- School attendance (preschool through grade 12)
- Summer learning (preschool through grade 12)
- Adult transitions to college (ages 18 and up)
Donors and Volunteers
More than 60% of all UWCNM donors give some or their entire gift to the Community Fund annually. Staff and committed UWCNM volunteers ensure donors' Community Fund gifts are invested wisely, supporting the most needed services in our local communities. Community Impact Council
The UWCNM Community Impact Council is a volunteer subcommittee of the UWCNM Board that provides support and feedback on our community impact work throughout the year, and guides our annual Community Fund grantmaking process. We are grateful to these dedicated community members for providing insight and feedback year-round!
